Mazda MX-5 NA Front Suspension Member Reinforcement

The other day, I saw some vulnerable parts from under the body. When I actually removed it, I find it’s pretty sloppy.

Welding of the engine mount is about 50% of the circumference. All manufacturers are similar, but the design section would have instructed them to be OK. In particular, MX-5 NA8C Series 2 is an model born in a storm of cost reduction.

In addition,weld a reinforcing plate to the base of the lower arm. Weld all around the engine mount.

First attach the bottom of the reinforcing plate and then tap it.

Weld the mating part.

Since the spot spacing is also rough, welded all the mating parts. The mating part with the frame was reinforced with particular attention. Rigid collar have become popular in the audio world these days, but the area around the holes is carefully　reinforced.

Smooths the mating surface with the frame.

It is completed by painting.
